Jonas Survila is former Head of the Office and advisor of Members of the European Parliament. He is also former advisor to the Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius (2008–2012). Mr Survila headed a number of election campaigns in Lithuania and also worked as a political communications trainer and expert with a particular focus on strategic communication. After his Transatlantic Fellowship with the World Affairs Institute in Washington DC, he took a break from his professional career and is currently undertaking a Master of Science degree in Eurasian Political Economy and Energy at King’s College London. He already holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University.
This panel will discuss the responsibilities of specialised agencies and institutions in securing voting processes, as well as the trustworthiness and transparency of electoral institutes. Moreover, the question of whether Western nations have the understanding and resources required to counter mis- and disinformation will be considered.
