Ilmar Raag is an internationally acclaimed film director from Estonia. He has directed 5 feature films and been awarded more than 30 international prizes.
Before becoming a film director, he served as the CEO of the Estonian Public Television from 2002 to 2005.
In 2014 he responded to a call from the Estonian Defence Forces and participated in a peacekeeping mission in Central Africa. In 2016, another peacekeeping mission followed in Mali with UN mission MINUSMA. Meanwhile, Ilmar Raag also served as adviser on strategic communication in the Estonian Government Office in 2015-2016.
Ilmar Raag graduated from the University of Tartu in 1997. He also studied at the University of Paris III La Sorbonne Nouvelle and received his master’s degree in screenwriting from Ohio University, the School of Telecommunications (1999).
