Privacy Policy

NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence, address: 11B Kalnciema Street, Riga, LV-1048, Latvia (hereinafter – „Organiser”, “Us” or “We”) respects and values your privacy. We have designed this Privacy Policy to inform you on how we collect and process your personal information (further- “personal data”) that you have provided to us.

This Privacy Policy applies when you have consented to your personal data processing by us for the purpose to analyse your personal data scope and availability at publicly available sources on the Internet, and to provide a statistical anonymous overview of the results gathered from all participants after completion of the analysis at the event “The Riga StratCom Dialogue 2018” of 12-13 June 2018.

  1. Why do we collect and process your personal data?

With your consent we will collect and process your personal data for the purpose to assess how much personal data about you are publicly available and how widely they are available on the Internet. The analysis will consist of two stages:

  1. Initial analysis – data gathering and availability evaluation;
  2. Presentation of anonymous results and statistics at the event.
  3. What categories of personal data are collected and processed by us?

After you have consented and provided your e-mail address we will additionally collect and process personal data about you to the extent such personal data have been manifestly made publicly available on the Internet, including, but not limited to:

1.      Name, surname;

2.      Workplace;

3.      Interests;

4.      Events or places attended or visited;

5.      E-mail addresses;

6.      Age;

7.      Gender;

 

8.         Relationship or family status;

9.         Whether e-mail has been compromised;

10.      Education and school or institution;

11.      Political views;

12.      Religion;

13.      Sexual orientation.

 Personal data recipients and transfers

Personal data processed for the purpose described in this Policy will not be transferred or shared with any third parties. Only authorised and limited number of our employees, consultants, advisors and other contractors engaged with us will be able to access your personal data, and only on a need to know basis with adequate safety measures and confidentiality obligations in place.

 

  1. Data source and origin:

For the purpose described above we collect your e-mail address directly from you. By using your e-mail address with the third party tools and service provider services, we gather certain categories of personal data from the public web, as indicated in section B, but only from two publicly available sources – social networks Facebook and LinkedIn.

  1. How long do we keep your personal data?

We only retain your personal data as long as necessary for the purpose the personal data was collected. Personal data will be processed and stored during the initial analysis and for the preparation of the statistical and anonymised report on results. All personal data collected and processed for purposes described herein will be erased immediately after the event “The Riga StratCom Dialogue 2018” on 14 June 2018. No personal data will be preserved in the anonymous statistical report.

  1. Your data protection rights

Personal data processing for the purpose described in this Privacy policy is based on your consent and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Please note that withdrawal becomes effective for further personal data processing.

Furthermore, your rights also include:

  • Right of access: You are entitled to know whether we process your personal data and what personal data we have, as well as you can ask for more specific information about the processing carried out.
  • Right to rectification: We are under an obligation to rectify inaccurate personal data and to complete incomplete personal data.
  • Right to erasure: We must erase your personal data upon your request and under certain circumstances.
  • Right to restriction of processing: We, in some circumstances, are required to restrict the use of your personal data upon your request.
  • Right to data portability: You have a right to receive the personal data we have on you, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, but only under certain circumstances.
  • You have a right to lodge a complaint in the national data protection supervisory authority, for instance, in the Data State Inspectorate of the Republic of Latvia.
